About
SalTerra
Founded in 2020 by James Beck, who has been working directly with distillers since 2013. Having a keen understanding of agriculture, logistics, and distilling James has been able to streamline the supply chain management leaving distillers more time to focus on their craft. SalTerra was formed with the intention of serving craft and commercial distilleries; offering a high-end service that prioritizes quality, transparency, and timely logistics.
James Beck
James began his career by working within a nationally established grain and feed company, who specialized in the animal feed and pet food sectors. While finding early success and learning the ins-and-outs of the industry, a new desire to create top-shelf customer experiences was sparked. A few months later, while at a restaurant in Chicago during Restaurant Week, James chose a random whiskey from a multi-page list and the rest is almost history. The whiskey was so smooth that James actually had the server bring him the bottle because he couldn’t believe that it was just a straight whiskey on ice. The next day he decided to look into Koval Distillery who was the craft producer of this new Oat Whiskey and it turned out that Koval was based in Chicago and happily agreed to meet. From that day forward, James fully shifted his efforts into crafting top-shelf customer experiences for the quickly expanding, craft distilling industry.
In 2020, James launched SalTerra in order to best serve the craft and commercial distillers he had grown to know and love. Now, when customers ask where the grain comes from, they will know it comes from the salt of the earth, hard working people with the sole purpose of creating the country’s best spirits, from farm to glass. Over the past decade, James has been fortunate enough to partner with nearly 100 craft and commercial distilleries by sourcing all of their grain needs.
